    Dear SMART moderator,

We are currently undertaking mortality survey with data entry at individual level. However, we wish to know how to enter an age of child if less than 1 year(0-12 months) as the data entry template only captures age in years.

    Looking forward to your feedback.

    Many thanks, Ash

    Dear Ash,

Thank you for your query. For children less than 1 years of age, this child will be classified as ‘0’ years as the child has not yet completed any years. During the analysis of results at individual-level, you can put 0-1 years in the Flexible Intervals so that you can see the number of deaths from children less than 1.

    Kind regards,
    Victoria

    Hi Ash,

It is true that the data entry template captures age in years. However, for “Demography & Mortality Questionnaire”, a child whose age is less than 1 year (12 months) is recorded as zero since the child has not made a year. I advice you to enter zero for the age of a child who is less than 1 year in the mortality section of ENA (Data Entry Individual Level).

I hope it will help you

    Kind regards
    Yengi
